Compute Rentier — For nations whose main asset is the ground itself, meaning cheap clean power, land and stability: host other nations' compute and turn geography into rent, jobs and relevance.

Bottlenecks

These hold Argentina below its Potential. Its two lowest scores cost it the most: sovereign compute at 2.0 (part of Watts) and hardware & silicon access at 2.0 (part of Watts).

Watts (Material)Sovereign Compute

Assessment

Argentina offers some of the most generous investment terms anywhere and cheap gas from Vaca Muerta, but the 500 MW Stargate campus announced in 2025 has not moved and research budgets have been cut.

The art of the possible

If Stargate or a rival is built, Patagonian gas and wind could power a large campus on tax terms fixed for decades. Lithium adds a second card.

Strategic play — Compute Rentier

Turn announcements into one working campus, and make access to its compute part of the deal.

Leverage — the nearest position. No chokepoint. Its position is cheap energy under a regime that fixes investors' terms for thirty years.
